In the last 12 months, IBIS has led more than 250 projects in 50 countries for financial clients investing in Agriculture, Food & Beverage, Forestry, Financial, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Mining, Retail, Renewable Power and Telecommunications sectors, amongst many others.

Job Purpose

 

Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a full-time Intern (12 months) to support the Corporate Sustainability team with delivering carbon footprints, decarbonisation, climate change risk assessment, climate change strategy, and CDP response projects across numerous African countries including South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda, amongst many others. You will be exposed to projects across several industries including agriculture, logistics, petrochemical, construction, financial institutions and many other sectors.

 

In this role, you will be working with Financial Institutions and Multinational Corporates in emerging markets, many of them at the forefront of embedding climate change considerations in their day-to-day approach to business.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Educated to at least an undergraduate level in a scientific or engineering field. A post graduate qualification will be an added advantage;
Proven academic excellence and other notable achievements are considered; and
Proficiency in English (verbal and written) is essential
Excellent attention to detail and a focus on high quality outputs;
Working knowledge of Office MS suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, etc);
Ability to analyse, and interpret, technical information, to understand and articulate the potential
risks and commercial consequences and propose pragmatic, actionable recommendations.
Excellent writing, researching and presentation skills;
Tenacity, focus and self-learning capabilities; and
The successful candidate must reside in Johannesburg

 

Responsibilities

Administrative and project support e.g., supporting project managers throughout the project
processes which includes attending interviews, contributing to report preparation etc.,
Support project teams with primary and secondary research and analysis on carbon footprints, decarbonisation, climate change risk assessments, climate change strategy and CDP responses;
Contribution to proposals and business development material i.e., a compilation of company profiles, experience listings, collating marketing material etc;
Planning and supporting the logistics for project teams etc; and
Where possible, opportunities to attend site visits as part of project planning, project and travel safety context and assistance with planning of logistics for project teams.
