Role Summary

The IT Intern will work under the guidance of Service Desk Engineers and other senior IT professionals, providing first-level support to end-users, manage help desk queries, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure optimal system performance.

Qualifications

 

Minimum: Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4
Advantageous: Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience

 

No experience required.
Prior experience in a technical support role would be advantageous.

Skills & Knowledge

 

Awareness of company policies and procedures.

Understand company structure and reporting lines.
Understand business processes and procedures.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal (English).

Responsibilities

Operational:

 

Assist with troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues for end-users via phone, email, or in-person.
Provide technical support and guidance to users regarding computer systems, software applications, and network connectivity.
Help deploy and configure desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment as needed.
Collaborate with team members to prioritise and escalate support tickets according to established procedures.
Document support activities, resolutions, and procedures to maintain an accurate knowledge base.
Assist with user account management tasks such as account creation, password resets, and access permissions.
Participate in IT projects and initiatives under the guidance of senior team members.
Contribute to the improvement of IT processes and workflows by providing feedback and suggestions based on firsthand experiences.
