Responsibilities

Forklift Operation

- Operate forklift equipment safely and responsibly in designated areas (production floor, warehouse, staging areas).

- Conduct daily forklift checks and report any faults or maintenance issues.

- Load, unload, and move materials including raw materials, packaging, finished products, waste bins, and pallets.

Line Feeding and Material Flow

- Ensure continuous supply of raw materials, packaging, and pallets to production lines to avoid downtime.

- Remove full pallets and transfer them to designated storage or dispatch areas.

Stock Handling and Warehouse Support

- Move materials between stores, staging areas, and production zones as per instructions.

- Ensure accurate pallet stacking and safe storage practices.

Safety and Compliance

- Adhere strictly to SHEQ standards when operating the forklift.

- Wear appropriate PPE and comply with speed limits and designated travel paths.

- Safely transport hazardous or flammable materials where required.

Housekeeping and Visual Standards.

- Maintain clean and organized working areas in line with 5S principles.

- Remove waste or excess materials from production lines promptly.

- Assist with pallet and bin organization to reduce congestion.

Communication and Team Support

- Collaborate with the Production Process Controller and Line Team to anticipate material needs.

- Provide timely feedback on material availability or movement constraints.

- Support loading and offloading during shift changes or deliveries.

- Material movement accuracy (%)

- Forklift availability and utilization (%)

- Number of safety incidents or near misses

- Line downtime due to material unavailability

- Adherence to housekeeping audits and 5S scores

- SAP/WMS transaction accuracy

- Compliance with PPE and safety protocols

Skills,

Experience
And Education

Education

- Minimum: Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent

- Mandatory: Valid Forklift Operator’s License (Counterbalance/Reach Truck depending on site requirements)

Experience

- Minimum 2 years’ forklift driving

experience

in a manufacturing or FMCG environment

- Exposure to production and warehouse operations in a high-volume environment

Experience
using SAP or WMS for material transactions (advantageous)

Skills

- Safe and precise forklift driving and maneuvering

- Ability to interpret and follow production schedules and job cards

- Understanding of inventory flow, staging, and material replenishment

- Knowledge of SHEQ, GMP, and food safety compliance

requirements

- Basic mechanical awareness to identify equipment faults

- Familiarity with barcoding, scanning, and stock rotation processes

- Ability to work independently and under pressure during high production demand
