We are seeking motivated, hands-on individuals with a passion for mechanics and agriculture to join our Technician Apprenticeship Programme.

This opportunity offers practical workplace experience and structured technical development towards becoming a qualified Technician** within the Agricultural and Construction and Forestry industries

About the Apprenticeship

The SENWES Equipment Apprenticeship Programme is a structured 3-year development programme that combines workplace learning with technical training to equip apprentices with the knowledge and practical skills required to service, maintain, diagnose, and repair agricultural equipment.

During the apprenticeship, successful candidates will:

Assist with the servicing, maintenance, and repair of agricultural machinery and equipment
Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance activities
Participate in diagnostics, fault finding, and troubleshooting
Gain exposure to mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
Support qualified technicians in workshop operations
Assist with stock and parts control
Perform general workshop administration and housekeeping duties
Adhere to workshop safety standards and procedures
Deliver professional customer service and technical support
Participate in product-specific technical training and development programmes
Training and Development

Throughout the apprenticeship, candidates may be required to:

Attend practical and theoretical training interventions
Complete distance-learning modules where applicable
Participate in supplier and manufacturer training programmes
Attend internal technical development initiatives
Complete trade-related assessments and practical evaluations
Apprenticeship Commitment

The apprenticeship is designed to develop future technical professionals for the agricultural industry. Apprentices will be expected to:

Maintain satisfactory academic and workplace performance
Successfully complete all prescribed training phases
Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and commitment to development
Where training modules or assessments are unsuccessful, apprentices may be required to repeat these at their own cost and time.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Grade 12 (Matric) completed or currently in progress
Mathematics, Technical Mathematics, N2 Mathematics, or Engineering Mathematics (Mathematical Literacy will not be considered)
Valid driver’s licence or currently working towards obtaining one
Basic computer literacy
Good communication skills
A genuine interest in mechanics, machinery, and the agricultural industry

Exposure to farming or agricultural machinery
Previous practical mechanical experience
