About the Thuthuka Bursary 2027
The Thuthuka Bursary Fund supports financially disadvantaged students pursuing Chartered Accountancy qualifications. SAICA wants to transform the accounting profession in South Africa with the Thuthuka Bursary.

This Thuthuka bursary funds studies for the 2027 academic year. It covers comprehensive support, including tuition, accommodation, and additional academic assistance.

About SAICA
The South African Institue of Chartered Accountants, also known as SAICA, is the leading professional body for Chartered Accountants in South Africa. It plays a key role in developing skills and maintaining standards in the accounting profession.

Through the Thuthuka initiative, SAICA promotes access to education and supports future Chartered Accountants from underrepresented backgrounds.

Funded Fields
The bursary is only able to fund students studying:

BCom Accounting (CA-stream)
Chartered Accountancy (CA(SA) pathway)
Unfortunatley other qualifications do apply.

Requirements & Eligibility
Thuthuka Bursary Requirements 
Future CAs must have the following set criteria to increase their chances of getting the SAICA Thuthuka bursary for 2027:

South African citizen
Black African or Coloured applicant
Currently in Grade 12, out of school for no more than 2 years, or studying a CA-stream BCom degree
Minimum 60% in Mathematics (NOT Maths Literacy or Technical Maths)
Applied or accepted for a BCom Accounting (CA-stream) at a Thuthuka-supported university
Combined household income of R350 000 or less per year
Must write (or have written) the National Benchmark Tests (NBT)
