Full job description
An internship position exists for an Animal Health Technologist to assist in capture, holding, transport and relocation of animals according to agreed deliverables at Veterinary Wildlife Services Kimberley Office. Twenty-four (24) months fixed-term contract.

Requirements
A National Diploma in Animal Health Technology.
Grade 12.
1 years’ experience in working with wildlife or livestock will be an added advantage.
Job-related knowledge of wildlife industry standard operations procedures.
A valid Code B or C1 driver’s license will be an added advantage.
Must be in good physical health.
Understanding of basic principles of Health & Safety.
No criminal record – SAPS Verification will be done.
Never participated in an internship program before.
Between ages of 18-35 years.
Responsibilities
Long working hours during peak period, weekends and on public holidays.
Working with animals in circumstances where limited control over animals is possible and response to chemicals and situation cannot be predicted.
Extensive long distance and after hours travelling in delivery of animal capture and relocation.
High risk working environment (combination of equipment, animals and potentially lethal drugs) requiring training and experience.
Sample collection on animals.
Provide support during treatment of animals and research.
Tranquilize wildlife as and when required.
Data collection and reporting.
Day to day admin as required by the position.
Maintenance of capture equipment and boma facilities.
Husbandry, feeding and cleaning of animals in bomas.
Accommodation provided.
Support In Procurement Process linked to the veterinary requirements.
Driving of small vehicle as and when required.
