Job Overview

UD Trucks is known for our pioneering technologies and products within the commercial automotive industry. The main purpose of the job is to investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repair of vehicles and machinery according to the maintenance requirements on a shift basis.

Responsibilities And Duties

Maintenance

 

To ensure the required Key Performance Indicators are achieved.
Plant availability
Mean time to repair
Mean time between failure
PM Adherence
Action completion on time
Kaizen creation and completion
Complete assigned preventative maintenance timeously
Complete assigned Jobcard timeously
Ensure optimal machine and mechanical tools availability
Resolve Functional Failures and breakdowns on Production Equipment.
Pro-actively Identify hardware and mechanical breakdowns using the departmental/machine systems and Pre-PM inspection checklist.
Perform Predictive and preventive maintenance on Production Equipment.
Machine ownership – check and maintain equipment to be fit for purpose.
Implementation and execution of Maintain ME initiatives and Programs.
Review Maintenance Task List for value Add and recommend New tasks for equipment
Compile daily shift handover reports and send to ME team. Upon completion training & roll-out.
Work safely and adheres to specific PPE requirements for specific tasks
Report in detail on performed work in SAP/syspro-PM. Upon completion training & roll-out.
Shaping and fabrication of parts and production equipment
Inspecting of Pressure vessel equipment
Adhere to regulatory standards for Hot work, Gases, pressurized vessels
Ensure that the 5S standard is adhered to before, during and after the shift
Ensure that able to weld on various equipment, metals (Mild steel, Stainless steel)
Work at heights and confined spaces with the required work permit/risk assessment completed
Applies LOTTO for work in progress when applicable
Loading and offloading of heavy equipment and material on Forklift and Cherry Picker
Update spares inventory to avoid waste or unavailability of spares when needed

Improvements:

 

Investigate & Implement machine/mechanical improvements in order to maintain/improve quality and production output
Introduce quick and standard Kaizens
Proactively engage with operators to introduce Kaizens
Provide input into Spares requirements for the Business unit.

Business Unit:

 

Give full support to all other business unit partners.
Clear and open communication.
Teamwork
Active Participation in Problem Solving.
Communicate deviations encountered to ME for production and process improvement.
Attends a Handover meeting with other Artisan, Team Leader/Section Engineer and prioritizes work to be done.
Perform other duties given by the Maintenance Engineer that is within the department.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

 

Trade test qualified: Boiler maker
Knowledge & experience of basic electrical skills
Understanding of LOTTO systems
Knowledge and experience with overhead machinery
Knowledge and experience with lifting tackle and equipment
Knowledge and experience with different types of welding and fabrication
Up to date Cherry picker and Forklift license
Basic Knowledge and experience with Microsoft office product (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
Minimum 2 Years experience as an Artisan Post Trade.
3 Years manufacturing / automotive experience
